WHAT IS SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I am an avid reader and writer. I spend a lot of time reading while traveling for hockey. My grandfather fought in World War II, and I have a particular affinity for history from both World Wars and the interwar period.
WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Becoming a father. Nothing has been more fulfilling for me. Sure, I am a hockey player, but my real job is being a dad and a husband, and I love it more than anything.
WHAT IS AN ORGANIZATION YOU’RE AFFILIATED WITH AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO YOU?
Hockey is For Everyone is an initiative that is particularly close to me. Using our platforms as professional athletes and as a league to advocate for making our communities more inclusive and accepting is something that my wife and I knew we could get behind. Sport should be a safe and welcoming place no matter your race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or level of physical or mental ability. Additionally, the Oasis Center, located in Nashville, is another group that is special. Although opportunities for face-to-face work were limited during the pandemic, the Oasis Center has an amazing mission and some fantastic programs for youth in our community, and my wife and I are grateful to be able to support them.
